Wonder stone is a colorful, banded volcanic rock, specifically a type of welded rhyolitic tuff usually found in the Western United States. Major deposits are in Utah (Vernon Hills) and Nevada (near Fallon and Goldfield). It has swirling bands of red, pink, yellow and tan created by iron oxide staining within the volcanic ash.
This pink and purple Wonder stone pendant was hand cut, hand shaped and polished. Wrapped with antique brass wire and copper and brass beads were added for accent.
